The Driverless Car

It was a dark and stormy night. Visibility was low on the lonely stretch of road as Ryan Stevens walked towards his destination.

A car slowly pulled up beside him. Grateful for a generous lift, Ryan hopped into the passenger front seat. The car slowly took off. It was a minute before Ryan realised he was alone in the car … the car was moving by itself!

The car approached a curve. The already terrified passenger watched in petrified silence as a mysterious hand appeared through the window and moved the wheel just enough to make it around the curve.

The car slowly made its way along the road, the ghostly hand appearing each time the road curved.

After a while, Ryan screwed up enough courage to open the door, dive out of the car, and run like blazes down the road, leaving behind the uncanny vehicle.

He ran to the nearest town, rushed into the bar and started telling everyone about his ghastly experience. When the inhabitants of the bar realised Ryan wasn’t drunk, but was truly shaken, they accepted his story.

The bar fell into a nervous silence.

Fifteen minutes later, two tired, disheveled men wandered into the bar.

One of them says to the other, “Look Jim, there’s the jerk who climbed into our car while we were pushing it.”

Joy comes in the Morning

Are your nights sometimes filled with sadness? Are you unable to fall asleep and have your thoughts disturbed by unresolved problems, memories and anxieties? Think on this:

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

One idea behind this statement, is that no matter how dark your current situation, it must eventually give way to the light. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Hold on. Don’t give up. Cry if you must, for a time, but never let go of the hope that times of joy are an eventuality of your life.

The Link between Candida, Mercury and Schizophrenia

Candida albicans is a type of gut flora that inhabits the intestines. One of its main functions is to protect the body from mercury by absorbing it. When the level of mercury, which is toxic to humans, is high in a person’s body, there is a proliferation of Candida in the intestines.

Candida release toxic by-products as they digest food and multiply, which can interfere with healthy neurotransmitter function. Over time, the toxic buildup interferes with the functioning of the entire body, resulting in a wide array of unwanted side-effects.

These include depression, anxiety, tiredness, disturbances of thought, perception, memory and mood.

At the extreme end of the spectrum, candidiasis(an overgrowth of Candida) can result in mania, psychosis and delusions. All of which are classic symptoms of Schizophrenia and the manic phase of Bipolar Disorder.

Typically Candida overgrows because of deficit of good bacteria such as Lactobacillus acidophilus. A major cause of this is the use of antibiotics, which can easily kill off the good bacteria, while allowing the Candida fungus to survive in large enough numbers to takeover the intestinal area.

It is always a good idea to take a probiotic supplement immediately after a course of antibiotics, in order to restore a healthy balance of intestinal flora.

The Law of a Clean Conscience

The Local Council. The Magistrates’ Court. The Police. Every great civilization has had upholders of justice. Our town is no exception. Until a sinless law is written in our hearts and minds, there will always be a need for courts, the police and councils.

The presence of police on the streets is an indication that we as a society are habitual law breakers.

In an ideal world, we would not need encouragement from the police in order to keep the law. In order to experience true freedom, we should follow the law of a clean conscience.

What does your heart have to say about your actions? Do you keep your conscience clean when there is no one else around? A society where a clean conscience is the norm, will have less need for police patrols and will experience true security.

Sunlight and Depression

Depression has close links with a lack of sunlight. Depression is far more common in countries (Iceland, Greenland) and seasons (winter and late autumn) where there is very little sunlight.

People who are depressed try to avoid social situations and outdoor experiences, which in turn results in less exposure to sunlight. Before too long a mild case of depression can result in a major depressive episode.

This winter, make sure your skin has exposure to an hour of sunlight each day. It is the cheapest and best treatment for depression.
